Despite the weather over 40 people came along to hear Scotland in Union’s Chief Executive Pamela Nash talk about the positive case for our place in the UK: our leading role in the world, the benefits of sharing resources across the UK, the freedom of speech we enjoy, the collapse of all the pre-referendum SNP hype and, the reality of their ten years in power and the lack of any credible case for independence.
We also touched on plans to engage in what looks like being a long campaign to counter the SNP's arguments, continue to promote the positive case for the UK and recruit an army of people from all walks of life who will be ready for the day which we all hope won't come...another divisive referendum.
As always in North East meetings there was some very lively and informed debate. It’s clear from our discussions that nobody wants to give up pressurising the SNP, and nobody believes they will ditch their plans for Indyref2. So, it’s up to us to our bit and stand up for the majority.
We had fantastic help from our local supporters and volunteers in getting the meeting off the ground, including delivering 1,000+ leaflets in the area. We are now ready to go around the country spreading our message.
The nationalists will not stop any time soon and neither should we.
