On Wednesday, 26th March 2025, Scotland in Union marked its 10th anniversary with a great evening at Birlinn Ltd in Edinburgh. It was a fantastic gathering of supporters, volunteers, and donors, all united in our shared vision for Scotland’s future.
With just one year to go until the pivotal May 2026 election, the event was a powerful reminder of the strength and determination that has carried us through a decade of efforts.

The night was filled with lively conversation, reflection on our achievements, and an inspiring look ahead at the road to 2026. It was a perfect way to celebrate ten years of standing together for a strong Scotland within the union.
We were honoured to hear from three outstanding guest speakers:
Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP, Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, who brought his characteristic energy and insight to the evening.
Stephen Kerr MSP, representing the Scottish Conservatives, whose commitment to our cause shone through in his words.
Daniel Johnson MSP, from Scottish Labour, who offered a compelling perspective on the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Their contributions added depth and inspiration to the night, and we’re deeply grateful for their support.
We also heard from our founder and director, Alastair Cameron, who reflected on the influential achievements of Scotland in Union over the past ten years, including:
Signing up 37,000 supporters.
Our volunteers have delivered over 1.4 million leaflets across Scotland.
Achieving a total social media reach of over 102 million.
Gaining 3,800 media mentions.
Holding over 400 in-person events.
Alastair’s words reminded us all of how far we’ve come since the inception of SIU, and received warm gratitude from everyone present.
Alastair also looked ahead to the 2026 Holyrood election, noting that there is no room for complacency, and a significant risk that the nationalists could have a majority of MSPs who want to push for another distracting and divisive referendum.
Alastair expressed particular concern about the risks of low turnout among pro-UK people in May 2026, and the potential for people voting Reform to let the nationalists in by the back door through reducing the number of seats for the main pro-UK parties. He concluded by encouraging all our supporters to be actively involved in the run-up to the election, and during the campaign itself, supporting the main pro-UK parties and encouraging people to use both votes carefully.
A special thank you goes to Hugh Andrew at Birlinn Ltd for kindly hosting our anniversary celebration. The venue was the perfect setting for this milestone event, and we couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome. We would also like to thank Rebecca from Cook For You, whose delicious food delighted everyone.
As we look back on a decade of Scotland in Union, we’re energised for the year ahead. With the May 2026 election on the horizon, our work is more important than ever. For those who couldn’t join us but still want to support our mission, you can play a vital role by donating here. Every contribution helps us build momentum and continue advocating for a thriving Scotland within the United Kingdom.
To everyone who attended, supporters, volunteers, and donors alike - thank you for making this such a great evening. Your dedication is the heartbeat of Scotland in Union, and we’re so grateful to have you with us as we embark on this next chapter.
Here’s to the future - and to keeping Scotland strong in the union!
