Prime Minister in Scotland

Commenting on the Prime Minister being in Scotland today, and on his announcement of new Growth Deals for Falkirk, the Islands and Argyll and Bute, Pamela Nash, chief executive of Scotland in Union, said:

“The Prime Minister’s decision to prioritise Scotland at this early stage of his premiership is positive.

“The Growth Deal funding for Scotland is also welcome, especially after the damage to the economy caused by uncertainty over a second independence referendum.

“Nicola Sturgeon should remember that she is meeting Mr Johnson as First Minister for everybody in Scotland – she is not only representing the minority who want to leave the UK.

“Whatever your views on Boris Johnson or Brexit, the very last thing Scotland needs is another divisive independence referendum and more constitutional chaos.

“We are stronger together as part of the UK with a successful economic future based on shared prosperity.”
