Thursday 23rd January saw us gather once again for our annual Burns Night, and what a night it was!

The Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel in the West End played host to another memorable evening of Scottish tradition. Our fantastic speakers this year included Labour's Blair McDougall MP, who delivered a stirring Immortal Memory; Conservative Jackson Carlaw MSP, who toasted the lassies with his customary wit; and Susan Murray MP from the Liberal Democrats, whose reply from the lassies delighted the audience.
The entertainment was top-notch, with former MP Nigel Griffiths captivating the room with a powerful rendition of Tam O'Shanter and, in true Burns Night spirit, addressing the haggis for us.
A special surprise came when supporter Allan Marshall treated us to a moving performance of A Man's a Man for a' That. And of course, no SIU Burns Night would be complete without the soul-stirring sounds of Haroon Rashid on the pipes. His performance was as exceptional as ever.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was wonderful, with guests enjoying delicious food, lively conversation, and the camaraderie that makes our Burns Night celebrations so special. The raffle, well-organised by SIU Campaigns Manager Andrew Skinner, was a great success - thanks to all our supporters who contributed raffle prizes.
SIU Chair, Alastair Cameron, rounded off the evening by thanking everyone for making the evening such a success and sharing some thoughts about Scotland’s future.
A huge thank you to the staff at the Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel for their warm welcome and excellent service, as well as to all our speakers and performers. We look forward to seeing you all again next year for another unforgettable Burns Night celebration!
