A new report for the think tank Our Scottish Future has outlined the devastating financial impact of the SNP’s plan to ditch the pound.
Professor Ronald Macdonald of Glasgow University will warn the cost to the public purse will be at least £100bn.
Pamela Nash, chief executive of Scotland in Union, said:
“The devastating financial reality of the SNP’s plan to ditch the pound has been laid bare.
“Scrapping the pound will cost tens of billions of pounds, with catastrophic consequences for public services such as schools and hospitals in Scotland.
“The only way to save our pound and save our vital public services is to remain in the UK.
“The launch of Our Scottish Future is a very welcome development and the contribution of Gordon Brown and the team of economic experts involved will show why Scotland is stronger in the UK.”
