Almost 1,000 UK civil service jobs have been moved from London to Scotland, it has been announced.
The UK Government said 933 roles had moved since March 2020, with hundreds more to follow in the next three years as they commit to relocating 1500 jobs to Scotland by 2025.
The relocation programme, known as Places for Growth, is moving 22,000 Civil Service jobs out of London by 2030.
Pamela Nash, chief executive of Scotland in Union, said:
“One of the key economic benefits of Scotland being an integral part of the UK is that opportunities like these arise.
“And it’s not just about the jobs: it’s hard evidence that Scotland is central to the workings, the running and the decision-making of the whole country.
“Scotland is the UK.
“This is another good example of the UK pulling together, sharing resources and ensuring all parts are working together for a better future.”
